The Call That Arrived Before Its Owner Vanished
At 2:17 a.m., a landline disconnected for years begins to ring. Its first message arrives in the voice of someone who has not disappeared yet.

The first call
Karim lives alone in an old Heliopolis apartment. The phone on his table is only decoration, its cord cut long ago. When it rings, he hears his own voice say: “Do not open the door when the bell rings.” Seconds later, the doorbell sounds.
The previous tenant
Inside the drawer is a cassette left by Marwan Shawky, a communications engineer who vanished years earlier: “Trust only the first warning. Every voice after that will not be yours.” The call returns at the same minute every night, each time with a different message.
The final clue
A photograph dated tomorrow arrives. The third call reveals that the apartment does not choose its tenants; it chooses whoever answers. When Karim hears his own voice outside the door, he learns that survival means refusing to look back.
